We have a new look!
Take a moment in your day to look at the new look of the DARS web site. We hope you find it easier to use than our old site.
Our front page is divided into four sections, with the old "Updates" now listed under Support and Documentation. Click on "Documentation" and see that the updates have been separated into categories. Now, when you are looking for that indispensable update, you won't have to remember the title or the number. Just click on the category that applies to your area. If you have forgotten, we have added a search option on this page too.
One of the things you won't find on our new web site is Larry Uhlir. Larry is enjoying the many pleasures and joys of retirement. He keeps us updated on his new life. We are including an e-mail from Larry which we hope you will enjoy reading. We think you will agree with us that Larry is gravitating toward a new career in creative writing!
Larry's retirement party on the 4th of September was a warm and fun-filled send off. Linda Baer AND the Governor sent thankful words. His gifts, as you might guess, were selected with humor and great care. Margo presented Larry with a dimmer switch (we will miss is uncanny ability to darken the lab at the ETC); Laurie gave Larry three ties, all selected from the bottom of the barrel at Good Will. With the many projects Larry has in his future, Daryl presented Larry with a work apron from Home Depot. When you look at the pictures, you will notice that it is a child's apron (thanks to Gina and Home Depot), adapted with longer straps and his name (thanks to Charlene Sejnoha and her sewing machine). Photos of the party accompany this note.
One thing that hasn't changed is the commitment Laurie, Daryl, Margo, Fred, Gina, and Mary have for helping you make DARS happen on your campus. Basic Encoding and TA workshops will continue, along with lab dates for special topics. Email or call us with specific issues or questions. We are here to assist you.
